Before we get into the next portion of our series, some of you may have noticed that the name for the series has changed. Previously, I had labeled this as the 2013 MLB Breakout Team. I feel compelled to change this, however, as my intent is to locate players from each position that currently have a somewhat depressed market presence that could change for the positive based on the skills and potential that they exhibit. Therefore, you will not be seeing names like Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Dylan Bundy, Jurickson Profar and other Baseball America cover boys here because the market for their products is already vibrant.
These are the “other guys”. Like the Duran Duran “Seven And The Ragged Tiger” album you find at the bottom of the Walmart $2 CD bin. Many of these players are post-hype prospects and young major leaguers that have, at some time stumbled and failed to meet the expectations that several fans and prognosticators once had for them.
